Background of the study:
Content marketing is a critical component of digital marketing strategies, influencing both consumer engagement and search engine optimization (SEO) performance. Digital agencies in Abuja are increasingly relying on high-quality, targeted content to improve organic search rankings and drive website traffic (Afolabi, 2023). This study examines how content marketing strategies—such as blog posts, infographics, videos, and social media integration—affect SEO performance by generating relevant keywords, backlinks, and enhanced user engagement. Effective content marketing can improve a website's visibility on search engines, resulting in higher click-through rates and increased conversion opportunities. However, the rapidly evolving SEO algorithms and content saturation present challenges that require continuous adaptation and innovation. By evaluating current practices and performance metrics, the research aims to identify best practices and potential pitfalls in the integration of content marketing and SEO, providing a framework for digital agencies to optimize their strategies (Okeke, 2024).

Statement of the problem:
Despite significant investments in content marketing, many digital agencies in Abuja struggle to achieve desired SEO outcomes. Issues such as content redundancy, lack of keyword optimization, and ineffective distribution channels lead to suboptimal organic search performance (Afolabi, 2023). These challenges result in lower search rankings and reduced website traffic, which ultimately affect lead generation and revenue. Therefore, a systematic evaluation of content marketing’s impact on SEO is necessary to refine strategies and improve overall digital performance (Okeke, 2024).

Objectives of the study:

 

To evaluate the relationship between content marketing and SEO performance.

 

 

To identify challenges affecting the effectiveness of content strategies.

 

 

To recommend methods for optimizing content marketing to boost SEO.

 

Research questions:

 

How does content marketing influence SEO performance?

 

 

What are the key challenges in integrating content marketing with SEO?

 

 

What strategies can enhance the effectiveness of content-driven SEO?

 

Significance of the study:
This study is significant as it bridges the gap between content marketing and SEO, offering insights that can help digital agencies in Abuja improve their online visibility and drive organic traffic. The findings will serve as a guide for optimizing digital marketing strategies in competitive markets (Okeke, 2024).

Scope and limitations of the study:
The study is limited to a digital agency in Abuja, Nigeria, focusing solely on the impact of content marketing on SEO performance. It does not cover other marketing channels or industries.
