ABSTRACT: This study explores the role of early childhood education in developing cooking skills among young children. Early exposure to cooking education can promote independence and healthy eating habits. Objectives included evaluating children's cooking skills development, identifying effective educational practices, and assessing the long-term impacts of early cooking education. A survey design was utilized for its ability to gather comprehensive data. Purposive sampling was employed to select 200 children from preschools in Taraba State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that children exposed to cooking education demonstrated improved cooking skills and confidence in meal preparation. Effective practices included interactive cooking lessons, hands-on cooking activities, and exposure to diverse cooking techniques. The study recommended integrating cooking education into early childhood curricula to promote independence, healthy eating habits, and culinary skills development from an early age.
