ABSTRACT: This research investigates the role of early childhood education in teaching meal planning skills to young children. Introducing meal planning early can promote healthy eating habits and food preparation skills. Objectives included evaluating children's meal planning skills, identifying effective educational practices, and assessing the long-term benefits of early meal planning education. A survey design was chosen for its capacity to gather detailed data. Purposive sampling was used to select 180 children from preschools in Sokoto State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that children exposed to meal planning education demonstrated improved meal planning skills and understanding of balanced meals. Effective practices included interactive lessons on meal components, hands-on meal planning activities, and involvement in meal preparation. The study recommended integrating meal planning education into early childhood curricula to promote healthy eating habits and life skills development from an early age.
