ABSTRACT: This study examines the role of early childhood education in teaching sustainable transportation practices to young children. Early education on transportation sustainability can foster environmentally conscious behaviors. Objectives included evaluating children's understanding of sustainable transportation, identifying effective educational practices, and assessing the long-term benefits of early transportation education. A survey design was utilized for its ability to gather broad data. Purposive sampling was employed to select 180 children from preschools in Kwara State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that children exposed to sustainable transportation education demonstrated improved understanding and practice of sustainable transportation behaviors. Activities such as interactive lessons on different modes of transportation, hands-on projects, and community initiatives were particularly effective. The study recommended integrating sustainable transportation education into early childhood curricula to promote environmentally friendly transportation habits from an early age.
