ABSTRACT: This research investigates the influence of early childhood education on fostering environmental stewardship among young children. Early educational experiences can significantly shape children's attitudes and behaviors towards the environment. Objectives included assessing children's understanding of environmental stewardship, identifying effective educational practices, and evaluating the long-term benefits of early stewardship education. A survey design was chosen for its efficiency in gathering broad data. Purposive sampling was used to select 200 children from preschools in Edo State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that children exposed to stewardship education demonstrated a greater sense of responsibility towards the environment. Effective practices included hands-on environmental projects, discussions on conservation, and community involvement activities. It was recommended that early childhood programs incorporate these practices to cultivate environmental stewardship from an early age.
