ABSTRACT: This study explores the role of early childhood education in the development of eco-friendly behaviors among young children. Early childhood education can significantly influence the formation of eco-friendly habits. The objectives were to assess the current state of eco-friendly behaviors among children, identify effective educational practices that promote such behaviors, and evaluate the long-term impacts of early eco-education. A survey design was utilized to gather comprehensive data, justified by its ability to capture diverse perspectives. Purposive sampling was used to select 200 children from preschools in Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that children exposed to eco-friendly education demonstrated significant improvements in eco-friendly behaviors such as recycling, conserving water, and reducing waste. Interactive activities, nature-based projects, and guided discussions on environmental topics were found to be particularly effective. It was recommended that early childhood education curricula incorporate these practices to foster eco-friendly behaviors from an early age.
