ABSTRACT: This study examines the role of early childhood education in promoting environmental sustainability among young children. Objectives include assessing children's understanding of environmental sustainability, identifying effective educational practices, and evaluating the long-term benefits of early sustainability education. A survey design was chosen for its efficiency in gathering broad data. Purposive sampling was employed to select 180 children from preschools in Ebonyi State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that children exposed to sustainability education demonstrated a better understanding and practice of environmentally sustainable behaviors. Activities such as recycling projects, lessons on conservation, and interactive nature activities were particularly effective. The study recommended integrating environmental sustainability education into early childhood programs to promote sustainable practices from an early age.
