ABSTRACT: This study examines the impact of early childhood education on understanding human rights among young children. Objectives include evaluating children's understanding of human rights, identifying effective educational practices, and assessing the long-term benefits of early human rights education. A survey design was employed due to its effectiveness in collecting broad data. Purposive sampling was used to select 180 children from preschools in Rivers State, Nigeria. Findings showed that children exposed to human rights education had a better understanding of their rights and those of others. Activities such as storytelling, role-playing scenarios involving rights, and discussions on fairness and justice were particularly effective. The study recommended integrating human rights education into early childhood programs to foster awareness and respect for human rights from an early age.
