ABSTRACT: The study examined the role of early childhood education in promoting dental hygiene among young children. The objectives were to assess the level of dental hygiene knowledge, identify effective educational practices, and evaluate the long-term benefits of early dental education. A survey design was chosen for its ability to collect detailed data from a diverse population. Purposive sampling was used to select 220 children from preschools in Plateau State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that children who received dental hygiene education had better oral health, characterized by regular brushing, flossing, and fewer dental issues. Interactive activities such as dental hygiene demonstrations, brushing and flossing routines, and visits from dental professionals were particularly effective. The study recommended integrating comprehensive dental hygiene education into early childhood curricula to promote good oral health from an early age.
