ABSTRACT: The study explored the role of early childhood education in developing advocacy skills among young children. The objectives were to assess the presence of advocacy skills in children attending early education programs, identify effective educational practices, and evaluate the long-term benefits of these skills. A survey design was chosen for its ability to collect comprehensive data from a broad participant base. Using purposive sampling, 200 children from preschools in Edo State, Nigeria, were selected. Findings showed that children exposed to advocacy-focused curricula demonstrated stronger skills in expressing their needs, defending their rights, and supporting others. Practices such as role-playing, discussions on rights and responsibilities, and community involvement were particularly effective. The study recommended that early childhood education programs integrate these practices to foster advocacy skills from an early age.
