ABSTRACT: The study examined the role of early childhood education in teaching responsibility to young children. The objectives were to measure the levels of responsibility exhibited by children in early education programs, identify educational practices that effectively teach responsibility, and assess the long-term impact of early responsibility training on personal development. A survey design was utilized to gather extensive data efficiently from a large group of participants. The sample size included 220 children from preschools in Rivers State, Nigeria, selected using a purposive sampling technique to ensure that participants had access to structured education. The findings indicated that early childhood education significantly contributed to teaching responsibility, with practices such as task assignments, role-playing, and group activities being particularly effective. The study recommended that early childhood education curricula should incorporate structured activities that promote responsibility and provide children with opportunities to take on age-appropriate responsibilities.
