ABSTRACT: Early childhood education (ECE) significantly influences the development of trust among young children, which is crucial for their social and emotional well-being. This study examines how ECE programs foster trust in early childhood settings. The objectives are to (1) assess the development of trust in children attending ECE programs, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of trust-building activities in ECE settings, and (3) compare the trust levels of children who attend ECE programs with those who do not. A survey design was employed to gather quantitative data on trust development and qualitative insights from educators and parents. A purposive sample of 120 children from preschools in Kwara State was selected. The case study focuses on preschools known for their trust-building initiatives. Findings revealed that children in ECE programs exhibited higher levels of trust compared to those not in such programs. Trust-building activities were found to be particularly effective. Recommendations include integrating trust-focused activities into ECE curricula and supporting educators in fostering trust among young children.
