ABSTRACT: Early childhood education (ECE) plays a vital role in developing collaboration skills among young children, which are essential for their future academic and social success. This study investigates how ECE programs contribute to the development of collaboration skills. The objectives are to (1) assess the collaboration skills of children in ECE programs, (2) evaluate the impact of collaborative activities in ECE settings, and (3) compare the collaboration abilities of children who attend ECE programs with those who do not. A survey design was chosen to collect quantitative data on collaboration skills and qualitative insights from teachers and parents. A purposive sample of 130 children from preschools in Oyo State was selected. The case study focuses on preschools with strong collaboration-promoting initiatives. Findings indicated that children attending ECE programs exhibited superior collaboration skills compared to those not in such programs. Collaborative activities were highly effective. Recommendations include integrating structured collaboration activities into ECE curricula and training educators to foster collaboration among young learners.
