ABSTRACT: The role of early childhood education (ECE) in teaching conflict management skills to young children is crucial for their social development and future interpersonal relationships. This study investigates how ECE programs contribute to the development of conflict management skills. The objectives are to (1) assess the conflict management skills of children in ECE programs, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of conflict resolution activities in ECE settings, and (3) compare conflict management abilities between children who attend ECE programs and those who do not. A survey design was chosen to collect quantitative data on conflict management skills and qualitative insights from educators and parents. A purposive sample of 130 children from preschools in Ogun State was selected. The case study focuses on preschools with comprehensive conflict management programs. Findings showed that children in ECE programs exhibited better conflict management skills than those not in such programs. Conflict resolution activities were found to be particularly effective. Recommendations include incorporating conflict management training into ECE curricula and supporting educators in teaching these skills effectively.
