ABSTRACT: This study examines the impact of early childhood education (ECE) on developing impulse control among young children, essential for their behavioral management and self-regulation skills. The objectives are to (1) assess changes in children's impulse control behaviors and decision-making in ECE settings, (2) evaluate the influence of ECE on delaying gratification and managing impulses, and (3) examine the role of ECE in shaping effective impulse control strategies. A survey design is employed to gather data on impulse control development and qualitative insights into decision-making processes. A purposive sample of 130 children from preschools in Kogi State was selected. The case study focuses on preschools known for their effective impulse control programs. Findings revealed improved impulse control behaviors, enhanced decision-making skills, and positive changes in self-regulation among children due to ECE participation. Recommendations include embedding impulse control strategies into ECE curricula, promoting self-discipline practices, and supporting educators in fostering effective decision-making skills among young learners.
