ABSTRACT: This study explores the influence of early childhood education (ECE) on developing self-control among young children, crucial for their emotional regulation and behavioral management. The objectives are to (1) assess changes in children's self-control behaviors and impulse management in ECE settings, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of self-regulation strategies integrated into ECE curricula, and (3) examine the impact of ECE on children's ability to regulate emotions and behaviors. A survey design is justified to collect data on self-control development and qualitative insights into behavioral changes. A purposive sample of 140 children from preschools in Benue State was selected. The case study focuses on preschools recognized for their self-control development initiatives. Findings indicated improved self-control behaviors, enhanced impulse management, and positive changes in emotional regulation among children due to ECE participation. Recommendations include integrating self-regulation techniques into ECE curricula, providing supportive environments for behavioral development, and empowering educators in promoting self-control skills among young learners.
