ABSTRACT: The influence of early childhood education on empathy development is essential for understanding how early education fosters children's ability to understand and share the feelings of others. This study examines how early childhood education programs contribute to empathy development. The objectives are to (1) assess improvements in children's empathy and perspective-taking skills, (2) evaluate the integration of empathy-building activities in early childhood education curricula, and (3) examine changes in peer relationships and social interactions. A survey design is employed to gather comprehensive data on the impacts of early childhood education on empathy development. A purposive sample of 100 children aged 4-6 years from preschools in Cross River State was used. The case study focuses on a preschool known for its emphasis on empathy education. Findings revealed significant improvements in children's empathy and perspective-taking skills, the effectiveness of empathy-building activities, and positive changes in peer relationships and social interactions. Recommendations included embedding empathy-building activities into early childhood curricula and providing ongoing professional development for educators to foster children's empathy development.
