ABSTRACT: Investigating the role of early childhood education in preventing youth radicalization is essential for promoting social cohesion and preventing extremism. This study aimed to evaluate how early childhood education programs contribute to preventing youth radicalization. The objectives were to (1) assess improvements in children's critical thinking and tolerance towards diverse perspectives, (2) evaluate the integration of peace-building activities in the curriculum, and (3) examine changes in attitudes towards extremism and violence. A survey design was employed to gather comprehensive data from participants, providing a broad assessment of the topic. A purposive sample of 110 children aged 4-6 years, engaged in peace-building and tolerance education programs, was selected to ensure relevant experiences. The case study focused on an early childhood education center in Kogi State, known for its efforts in promoting social cohesion. Findings indicated significant improvements in critical thinking and tolerance, the effectiveness of peace-building activities, and positive changes in attitudes towards extremism and violence prevention. The study recommended integrating peace-building education into early childhood curricula and providing training for educators to effectively teach tolerance and conflict resolution skills.
