ABSTRACT: Examining the role of early childhood education in disaster response preparedness is essential for fostering a culture of safety and readiness from a young age. This study aimed to evaluate how early childhood education programs influence disaster response preparedness among young children. The objectives were to (1) assess children's understanding of disaster response concepts, (2) evaluate the integration of preparedness activities in the curriculum, and (3) examine changes in children's behavior during simulated disaster scenarios. A survey design was chosen to systematically collect data from participants. A purposive sample of 100 children aged 4-6 years, engaged in disaster preparedness programs, was selected from an early childhood education center in Rivers State. Findings revealed significant improvements in children's understanding of disaster response concepts, the effectiveness of preparedness activities, and positive changes in behavior during simulated disaster scenarios. The study recommended incorporating disaster preparedness themes into early childhood curricula and providing training for educators to deliver these programs effectively.
