ABSTRACT: Investigating the role of early childhood education in promoting sustainable tourism is crucial for fostering environmental consciousness from a young age. This study aimed to evaluate how early childhood education programs contribute to sustainable tourism practices. The objectives were to (1) assess children's understanding of sustainable tourism concepts, (2) evaluate the integration of tourism-related activities in the curriculum, and (3) examine changes in children's attitudes and behaviors towards tourism. A survey design was employed to systematically collect data from participants. A purposive sample of 110 children aged 4-6 years, involved in tourism-related education programs, was selected from an early childhood education center in Cross River State. Findings indicated significant improvements in children's understanding of sustainable tourism concepts, effective integration of tourism-related activities, and positive changes in attitudes and behaviors towards sustainable tourism. The study recommended incorporating sustainable tourism themes into early childhood curricula and training educators to promote environmental consciousness through interactive activities.
