ABSTRACT: Investigating the benefits of early childhood education on indigenous knowledge systems is vital for preserving cultural heritage. This study aimed to evaluate how early childhood education programs integrate and promote indigenous knowledge among young children. The objectives were to (1) assess the inclusion of indigenous knowledge in the curriculum, (2) evaluate the effectiveness of traditional teaching methods, and (3) examine the impact on children's cultural identity and awareness. A survey design was chosen to collect comprehensive data from participants. A purposive sample of 130 children aged 4-6 years, engaged in culturally inclusive programs, was selected from an early childhood education center in Enugu State. Findings revealed significant integration of indigenous knowledge in the curriculum, the effectiveness of traditional teaching methods, and enhanced cultural identity and awareness among children. The study recommended increasing the inclusion of indigenous knowledge in early childhood education and providing training for educators to effectively incorporate traditional teaching methods.
