ABSTRACT: Investigating the effects of early childhood education on creative thinking skills is vital for fostering innovation and problem-solving abilities in young children. This study aimed to assess how early childhood education programs influence the development of creative thinking skills. The objectives were to (1) evaluate improvements in divergent thinking, (2) assess the role of play-based and interactive learning environments, and (3) examine the impact on problem-solving abilities. A survey design was employed to gather comprehensive data from participants. A purposive sample of 130 children aged 4-6 years, enrolled in play-based learning programs, was selected from an early childhood education center in Imo State. Findings revealed significant improvements in divergent thinking, the effectiveness of play-based and interactive learning environments, and enhanced problem-solving abilities. Recommendations included incorporating creative thinking activities into early childhood curricula and providing training for educators to foster creativity through play-based learning.
