ABSTRACT: The role of animal-assisted therapy in early childhood development is gaining recognition for its therapeutic benefits. This study aimed to explore the impact of animal-assisted therapy on young children's emotional, social, and cognitive development. The objectives were to (1) assess improvements in emotional well-being, (2) evaluate the enhancement of social skills, and (3) examine cognitive benefits such as attention and learning. A survey design was chosen to gather comprehensive data from participants. A purposive sample of 100 children aged 3-6 years, who engaged in animal-assisted therapy, was selected from an early childhood education center in Kano State. Findings revealed significant improvements in emotional well-being, enhanced social skills, and cognitive benefits, particularly in attention and learning. The study recommended integrating animal-assisted therapy into early childhood education programs and training educators to facilitate these therapeutic interactions.
