ABSTRACT: Examining the influence of early childhood education on social skills in rural communities is vital for understanding its broader impact on child development. This study aimed to investigate how early childhood education programs contribute to the development of social skills in young children from rural areas. The objectives were to (1) assess improvements in communication abilities, (2) evaluate the development of cooperative behaviors, and (3) examine the enhancement of conflict resolution skills. A survey design was chosen to collect comprehensive data from participants. A purposive sample of 140 children aged 3-6 years, enrolled in early childhood education programs, was selected from rural communities in Ekiti State. The case study focused on a local early childhood education center renowned for its robust social skills curriculum. Findings indicated significant improvements in communication abilities, marked by better verbal and non-verbal skills, enhanced cooperative behaviors such as sharing and teamwork, and improved conflict resolution skills, particularly in managing disagreements peacefully. Recommendations included increasing support for early childhood education programs in rural areas and providing specialized training for teachers to focus on social skills development.
