ABSTRACT: The effects of early childhood yoga programs on physical and mental health are of growing interest in educational and health research. This study aimed to evaluate the benefits of yoga on young children's physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall health. The objectives were to (1) assess improvements in physical fitness levels, (2) evaluate enhancements in mental health indicators such as focus and relaxation, and (3) examine the overall health outcomes associated with regular yoga practice. A survey design was employed to gather detailed and varied data from participants. A purposive sample of 130 children aged 4-7 years, all engaged in yoga programs for at least six months, was selected from Rivers State. The case study focused on a prominent early childhood education center that incorporates yoga into its daily activities. Findings demonstrated significant physical fitness improvements, including flexibility and strength, notable enhancements in mental health indicators like focus and relaxation, and overall health benefits, particularly in stress reduction and well-being. Recommendations included incorporating yoga programs into early childhood education curricula and training educators to deliver yoga sessions effectively to maximize benefits.
