ABSTRACT: This study assessed the Benefits of Early Childhood Education on Local Economic Development. The objectives of this study were to: (1) assess the benefits of early childhood education (ECE) programs in contributing to local economic development and growth, (2) examine the effectiveness of entrepreneurship and financial literacy activities in fostering economic empowerment among families, and (3) determine the long-term impacts of ECE on workforce readiness and community prosperity. A survey research design was employed to collect comprehensive data from educators, parents, and local economic development experts about their experiences with ECE and its impact on economic development. A sample size of 160 participants, including preschool teachers, parents, and business leaders, was selected using purposive sampling to ensure representation from diverse economic sectors in Benue State, Nigeria. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers known for their innovative approaches to integrating economic education into the curriculum. Findings indicated that ECE programs significantly contributed to local economic development by fostering entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy, and workforce readiness among children and families. It is recommended that early childhood education centers continue to prioritize economic education, collaborate with local businesses for mentorship opportunities, and advocate for policies that support early childhood economic development initiatives to strengthen local economies and promote community prosperity.
