ABSTRACT: This study Investigated the Role of Early Childhood Education in Promoting Sustainable Tourism. The objectives of this study were to: (1) examine the role of early childhood education (ECE) in promoting awareness of sustainable tourism practices among young children, (2) assess the effectiveness of environmental education activities in fostering responsible tourism behaviors, and (3) determine the long-term benefits of sustainable tourism education on community development. A survey research design was employed to gather comprehensive data from educators, parents, and community members about their experiences with sustainable tourism education in ECE settings. A sample size of 160 participants, including preschool teachers, parents, and community leaders, was selected using purposive sampling to include representatives from tourism-related industries in Cross River State, Nigeria. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers known for their focus on environmental conservation and sustainable practices. Findings indicated that ECE programs significantly increased children's awareness of sustainable tourism practices, influencing family behaviors and community attitudes towards responsible tourism. It is recommended that early childhood education centers collaborate with tourism stakeholders, integrate sustainable tourism education into their curricula, and engage local communities in promoting environmentally friendly tourism practices.
