ABSTRACT: This study investigated the Role of Early Childhood Education in Promoting Environmental Justice. The objectives of this study were to: (1) evaluate the role of early childhood education (ECE) in promoting awareness of environmental justice among young children, (2) assess the impact of environmental education activities on understanding environmental issues and advocacy, and (3) determine the long-term benefits of environmental justice education on sustainable development. A survey design was employed to gather comprehensive data from educators, parents, and children about their experiences with environmental justice education in ECE settings. A sample size of 170 participants, including preschool teachers, parents, and children aged 4-6, was selected using purposive sampling. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers in Sokoto State, Nigeria, known for their environmental conservation efforts. Findings indicated that ECE programs significantly promoted awareness of environmental justice issues and inspired children to become advocates for sustainable development. It was recommended that early childhood education centers integrate environmental justice education into their curricula and collaborate with environmental organizations to foster a sense of environmental responsibility from an early age.
