ABSTRACT: This study Examined the Role of Early Childhood Education in Developing Cultural Competence. The objectives of this study were to: (1) evaluate the effectiveness of early childhood education (ECE) in fostering cultural awareness among young learners, (2) assess the impact of multicultural activities on children's acceptance of diversity, and (3) determine the long-term benefits of cultural competence education on social harmony. A survey design was employed to collect extensive data from educators, parents, and children, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the role of ECE in promoting cultural competence. A sample size of 160 participants, including preschool teachers, parents, and children aged 4-6, was selected using purposive sampling. The case study focused on early childhood education centers in Kano State, Nigeria, known for its cultural diversity and efforts in promoting inclusive education. Findings indicated that ECE programs significantly improved children's cultural awareness and acceptance of diversity, contributing to more harmonious social interactions. It was recommended that early childhood education centers incorporate multicultural activities into their curricula and provide training for educators to effectively teach cultural competence.
