ABSTRACT: This research assessed the benefits of early childhood art therapy programs on emotional expression. The objectives were to: (1) evaluate the impact of art therapy on children's ability to express emotions, (2) assess the role of art therapy in reducing emotional distress, and (3) determine the effectiveness of art therapy in improving emotional regulation. A survey design was employed to gather data from educators, parents, and art therapists about their observations of children's emotional expression during art therapy. A sample size of 150 preschool educators, parents, and art therapists was selected using purposive sampling. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers in Osun State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that art therapy programs significantly improved children's ability to express emotions, reduced emotional distress, and enhanced emotional regulation. It was recommended that early childhood education programs integrate art therapy and provide training for educators and therapists to effectively support children's emotional development through art.
