ABSTRACT: This research explored the benefits of dual-language immersion programs in early childhood. The objectives were to: (1) evaluate the impact of dual-language programs on language proficiency, (2) assess the role of these programs in enhancing cognitive flexibility, and (3) determine the long-term benefits of bilingualism on academic performance. A survey design was employed to gather data from educators, parents, and children about their experiences with dual-language immersion programs. A sample size of 140 participants was selected using purposive sampling. The case study focused on early childhood education centers in Cross River State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that dual-language immersion programs significantly improved language proficiency and cognitive flexibility, with long-term benefits on academic performance. It was recommended that early childhood education programs implement dual-language immersion and that educators receive training to effectively deliver bilingual education to support cognitive and language development.
