ABSTRACT: This research explored the role of play-based learning in early childhood socialization. The objectives were to: (1) evaluate the impact of play-based activities on social skills, (2) assess the effectiveness of these activities in promoting cooperation and sharing, and (3) determine the role of play in reducing social anxieties. A survey design was employed to collect comprehensive data from educators and parents about their observations of children's social interactions during play. A sample size of 160 preschool educators and parents was selected using purposive sampling. The case study focused on early childhood education centers in Lagos State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that play-based learning significantly improved social skills, promoted cooperation and sharing, and reduced social anxieties. It was recommended that early childhood education programs integrate play-based learning into their curricula and that educators receive training to facilitate effective play-based activities to enhance socialization.
