ABSTRACT: This study explored the role of early childhood education in promoting civic engagement. The objectives were to: (1) evaluate the impact of early education on understanding civic responsibilities, (2) assess the role of early learning activities in fostering a sense of community, and (3) determine the long-term benefits of early civic education on active citizenship. A survey design was chosen to collect data from educators, parents, and young adults about their early educational experiences and civic engagement. A sample size of 160 participants was selected through purposive sampling. The case study focused on early childhood education centers in Enugu State, Nigeria. Findings revealed that early childhood education significantly promoted understanding of civic responsibilities, fostered a sense of community, and encouraged active citizenship. It was recommended that early childhood education programs integrate civic education into their curricula and provide training for educators to support the development of civic engagement in young children.
