ABSTRACT: This study examined the role of family structure in early childhood learning. The objectives were to: (1) evaluate the impact of different family structures on children's academic performance, (2) assess the influence of parental involvement on early learning outcomes, and (3) explore the role of extended family members in supporting early childhood education. A survey design was chosen to collect comprehensive data from parents, educators, and extended family members about their involvement and its impact on children's learning. A sample size of 160 parents and educators was selected through purposive sampling. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers in Anambra State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that children from stable family structures performed better academically and benefited from higher levels of parental involvement. Extended family members also played a significant role in supporting early childhood education. It was recommended that early childhood education programs encourage active parental involvement and that community support systems be strengthened to provide additional support for diverse family structures.
