ABSTRACT: This study explored the role of robotics and coding in early childhood STEM education. The objectives were to: (1) evaluate the impact of robotics and coding activities on cognitive development, (2) assess the effectiveness of these activities in fostering critical thinking skills, and (3) determine the role of early exposure to STEM in long-term academic interest. A survey design was chosen to collect data from educators and parents about their experiences and observations of robotics and coding programs. A sample size of 130 preschool educators and parents was selected through purposive sampling. The case study was conducted in early childhood education centers in Abuja, Nigeria. Findings indicated that robotics and coding activities significantly enhanced cognitive development and critical thinking skills in young children. Early exposure to STEM was found to cultivate long-term interest and engagement in related academic fields. It was recommended that early childhood education programs integrate robotics and coding into their curricula and that educators receive specialized training to effectively implement these activities.
