Abstract: This study explored the impact of outdoor learning on early childhood cognitive development. The objectives were to: (1) assess the cognitive benefits of outdoor activities, (2) evaluate the influence of outdoor learning on problem-solving skills, and (3) determine the role of nature-based learning in enhancing memory retention among preschool children. A survey design was employed, justified by the need to gather extensive data from a diverse population to understand the general trends and perceptions regarding outdoor learning. A sample size of 150 preschool teachers and caregivers was selected using purposive sampling to ensure participants had relevant experience with outdoor learning programs. The case study focused on preschool institutions in Ogun State, Nigeria. Findings indicated that outdoor learning significantly improved children's cognitive abilities, particularly in areas of problem-solving and memory retention. Teachers observed increased engagement and curiosity among children participating in outdoor activities. It was recommended that early childhood education programs incorporate structured outdoor learning activities to foster cognitive development, and that policymakers support initiatives that provide safe and stimulating outdoor environments for young learners.
