Abstract: This research investigates the role of pretend play in promoting cognitive, social, and emotional development in early childhood. The objective is to analyze how pretend play activities contribute to creativity, problem-solving skills, and empathy in young children. A survey research design is employed to gather data from 300 parents and educators in Kano State, selected through purposive sampling to represent diverse cultural backgrounds and educational perspectives. Findings indicate that engaging in pretend play enhances children's imaginative abilities, social competence, and emotional regulation, supporting overall developmental milestones. Recommendations include incorporating pretend play opportunities into ECE curricula, providing play-based learning materials, and promoting parental involvement in fostering imaginative play experiences at home.
