Abstract: This study examines the impact of outdoor playgrounds in enhancing early childhood development. The objective is to evaluate how access to outdoor play environments influences cognitive, social, and physical developmental outcomes in young children. A survey research design is justified to gather data on playground utilization and developmental milestones from a sample of 200 preschool-aged children and their parents, selected through purposive sampling to include diverse socioeconomic backgrounds and geographic locations. Ogun State is chosen for its varied urban and rural settings. Findings reveal that frequent exposure to well-equipped outdoor playgrounds correlates with improved motor skills, social interaction, and cognitive abilities in children. Recommendations emphasize the importance of incorporating outdoor play as a fundamental aspect of early childhood education programs to foster holistic developmental benefits in young learners.
