Abstract: This study addresses the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) on early childhood education (ECE) in Nigeria. The objectives are to explore the prevalence and effects of ACEs on cognitive, emotional, and behavioral development among young children, and to propose trauma-informed practices and support systems for ECE settings. Employing a qualitative survey research design, this study justifies its approach by gathering insights from educators, counselors, and child welfare experts through interviews and focus groups. A purposive sample size of 200 participants ensures representation from urban and rural areas, capturing diverse socio-economic contexts across Nigeria. Akwa Ibom State is selected as the case study location, known for its initiatives in child protection and trauma-informed care. The reliability coefficient score will ensure data validity and reliability in qualitative data analysis. Findings are expected to inform trauma-sensitive policies and interventions that enhance ECE support systems and promote resilience among children affected by ACEs in Nigerian communities.
