ABSTRACT

THE ROLE OF FUND ACCOUNTANTS IN INVESTMENT RISK ASSESSMENT is the focus of this study, with objectives to examine their responsibilities, the challenges they face, and the impact of their work on risk management. A survey design is employed to gather detailed information from a large sample of professionals, justified by its ability to provide comprehensive and diverse insights. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 300 respondents was determined, ensuring the data's reliability and accuracy. The research is conducted in Abuja, where regulatory compliance and audit activities are prominent. The survey instrument's reliability coefficient score was 0.89, indicating high reliability. Findings reveal that fund accountants play a crucial role in investment risk assessment, identifying potential risks, and advising on risk mitigation strategies. However, challenges such as staying updated with evolving risk factors and managing the extensive data required for risk assessment were noted. The study recommends continuous professional development, the adoption of advanced risk assessment tools, and increased collaboration with regulatory bodies to enhance the effectiveness of fund accountants in investment risk assessment.
