THE EFFECT OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION ON INTERNATIONAL ACCOUNTING

ABSTRACT

This study explores (1) the impact of digital transformation on international accounting practices, (2) the benefits and challenges associated with digital tools in accounting, and (3) the future outlook of digitalization in the accounting profession. A survey research design is justified to capture the diverse experiences of accounting professionals with digital transformation. A sample size of 350 respondents, determined using Taro Yamane's formula, ensures a representative and statistically significant sample. The case study is conducted in Abuja, Nigeria, a city experiencing rapid digitalization in various sectors. The reliability coefficient score of the survey instrument is 0.89, reflecting high reliability. Findings reveal that digital transformation significantly enhances efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in international accounting, though challenges such as cybersecurity and the need for continual technological updates persist. Recommendations advocate for ongoing investment in digital tools and training for accountants to fully leverage digital transformation benefits.
