THE IMPACT OF ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS ON FIDUCIARY ACCOUNTING PRACTICES
This study aims to (1) investigate the influence of environmental factors on fiduciary accounting practices, (2) assess the adaptability of fiduciary accountants to these factors, and (3) propose strategies to mitigate adverse impacts. A survey design was utilized to collect detailed data from fiduciary accountants. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 130 fiduciary accountants was determined from a population of 210 in Lagos. A prominent fiduciary accounting firm in Lagos was selected as the case study to provide specific insights. The reliability coefficient score of the survey was 0.89, indicating high reliability. Findings revealed that environmental factors such as regulatory changes, economic conditions, and technological advancements significantly impact fiduciary accounting practices. The study recommends the development of flexible accounting frameworks and continuous professional development to help fiduciary accountants adapt to changing environmental factors.
