Abstract: THE EFFECT OF TAXATION OF NON-RESIDENT INVESTORS AND FOREIGN NATIONALS
This research investigates the effect of taxation on non-resident investors and foreign nationals in Abuja. The study's objectives are to analyze the tax implications for non-resident investors, assess the compliance challenges, and evaluate strategies for managing tax liabilities. A survey design was used to gather data from 250 non-resident investors and tax professionals, calculated using Taro Yamane's formula. A case study of a multinational corporation with operations in Abuja provided detailed insights. The reliability coefficient score was 0.89. Findings indicate that taxation of non-resident investors involves significant challenges, including complex regulations and compliance issues. Effective tax planning and professional advice were found to be critical strategies. Recommendations include simplifying tax laws related to non-resident investors, enhancing international tax agreements, and providing clearer guidelines for managing tax liabilities.
