Abstract: THE CHALLENGES ASSOCIATED WITH THE TAXATION OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (R&D) ACTIVITIES
This research investigates the challenges associated with the taxation of research and development (R&D) activities in Ogun. The study aims to identify the primary tax challenges, assess their impact on R&D investments, and propose strategies for improving compliance. A survey design was employed, targeting 200 R&D managers and tax professionals, calculated using Taro Yamane's formula. A case study of a leading technology firm in Ogun provided in-depth insights. The reliability coefficient score was 0.85. Findings indicate that the primary challenges include complex tax regulations, difficulties in qualifying for tax credits, and compliance issues. Recommendations include simplifying tax laws related to R&D, providing more support and guidance for businesses, and enhancing tax incentives to encourage R&D investments.
