Abstract: THE ROLE OF TAX ACCOUNTING IN ESTATE PLANNING
This study investigates the role of tax accounting in estate planning, focusing on Uyo. The objectives are to understand the importance of tax accounting in estate planning, assess the challenges faced by individuals, and evaluate the benefits of effective tax planning. Using a survey design, data was collected from 180 individuals involved in estate planning, derived using Taro Yamane's formula. A case study of a leading estate planning firm in Uyo provided comprehensive insights. The reliability coefficient score was 0.83. Findings show that effective tax accounting is crucial for successful estate planning, helping to minimize tax liabilities and ensure smooth asset transfer. However, challenges such as complex tax laws and lack of awareness persist. Recommendations include increasing public awareness about the importance of tax accounting in estate planning and simplifying tax regulations to facilitate better planning.
