Abstract: TAX IMPLICATIONS OF BUSINESS RESTRUCTURING AND REORGANIZATIONS
This research explores the tax implications of business restructuring and reorganizations, with a focus on Abuja. The study's objectives are to analyze the tax consequences of different types of business restructurings, assess the compliance challenges, and evaluate the strategies businesses use to manage tax implications. A survey design was used to gather data from 300 business executives, calculated using Taro Yamane's formula. A case study of a leading conglomerate undergoing restructuring in Abuja provided comprehensive insights. The reliability coefficient score of the survey instrument was 0.87. Findings indicate that tax implications can be significant, often involving complex regulations and substantial compliance challenges. Strategies such as advance tax planning and seeking professional tax advice were found to be effective. Recommendations include simplifying tax laws related to business restructuring and providing clearer guidelines to businesses to aid compliance.
