Abstract: THE EFFECT OF TAXATION OF EMPLOYEE BENEFITS AND COMPENSATION
This research investigates the effect of taxation on employee benefits and compensation in Enugu. The study's objectives are to understand how taxation influences employee compensation structures, evaluate the compliance challenges for employers, and assess the impact on employee satisfaction. Using a survey design, data was collected from 250 employees and employers, calculated using Taro Yamane's formula. A case study of a leading manufacturing company in Enugu was conducted for detailed analysis. The reliability coefficient score was 0.84. Findings indicate that taxation significantly affects compensation structures, with compliance challenges often leading to dissatisfaction among employees. It is recommended that tax policies be revised to ensure fair taxation of benefits and provide clear guidelines to ease compliance for employers.
