ABSTRACT:
This study investigates the impact of non-financial disclosures on financial reporting in Lagos State, Nigeria. The objectives are to: (1) determine how non-financial disclosures affect financial statement accuracy, (2) assess the influence of non-financial disclosures on investor decision-making, and (3) evaluate the overall impact on corporate transparency. A survey design was chosen for its ability to gather comprehensive data from financial analysts, corporate managers, and investors. The sample size, calculated using Taro Yamane's formula, ensures representativeness with a 95% confidence level and a 5% margin of error. Dangote Group was selected as the case study due to its extensive non-financial reporting practices. The reliability coefficient score of the survey was 0.91. Findings indicate that non-financial disclosures significantly enhance the transparency and accuracy of financial reports, leading to more informed investor decisions. It is recommended that companies in Lagos State integrate comprehensive non-financial disclosures into their financial reporting practices to improve transparency and investor confidence.
