Abstract:
This research explores the role of forensic accounting in financial statement analysis in Abuja, Nigeria. The objectives are to: (1) assess the effectiveness of forensic accounting techniques in detecting financial irregularities, (2) evaluate the impact on financial transparency, and (3) analyze the role of forensic accountants in legal proceedings. A survey design was chosen to collect data from forensic accountants and financial auditors. The sample size, determined using Taro Yamane's formula, ensures representativeness. Deloitte Nigeria was selected as the case study due to its extensive forensic accounting services. The reliability coefficient score of the survey was 0.88. Findings indicate that forensic accounting plays a critical role in detecting financial irregularities and enhancing transparency. It is recommended that companies in Abuja integrate forensic accounting practices into their financial analysis processes to improve financial integrity and support legal proceedings.
