ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to analyse food safety among pork marketers in Abakiliki area of Ebonyi state. The study sought to elucidate on the socio-economic characteristics of pork marketers in Abakiliki. The study further examined the factors responsible for the consumption of pork meat in Abakiliki. Lastly, the study assessed the level of hygiene adopted by pork meat sellers in the study area. This study adopted the simple percentage model in proffering answers to the research questions. The findings from the study revealed that pork marketers in Abakiliki do not maintain significant hygiene. This situation should be greatly discouraged by the market authorities. The findings further showed that factors responsible for pork consumption ranges from income to taste, environmental and cultural factors.
